Anne Phey: Human-Centered Leadership in the Age of AI

With over 30 years of leadership across corporate giants like IBM and MTV Asia, Anne Phey (彭子宸) is a name synonymous with transformational leadership in Asia.

As the Founder of Leadership Coaching School and a certified PCC coach, she has played a defining role in positioning Singapore as a regional hub for ICF-accredited coaching and future-ready talent development.

In this SG60 Showcase, Anne shares why identity-led leadership matters now more than ever, how her coaching school is upskilling Asia’s next wave of leaders, and what it means to coach with purpose in the AI era. Whether you’re a seasoned executive or an emerging leader navigating uncertainty, Anne’s insights will resonate deeply.

Coaching Singapore’s Competitive Edge

Q: Tell us about an initiative you’ve led that directly supports Singapore’s development goals.

A: Since founding Leadership Coaching School in 2018, I’ve helped establish Singapore as Asia’s premier destination for leadership development and ICF-accredited coach certification. Our school has certified over 300 coaches and empowered 2,000+ professionals across industries.

As Singapore’s a hub for global companies and for our homegrown companies to expand globally, more Asian leaders need to be groomed. We offer leadership training and coaching, as well as coaching certifications that develop leadership, communication, and emotional intelligence—core to building a resilient, future-ready workforce.

We work with companies, universities, and individuals to deliver transformational leadership training and coaching programs that support Singapore’s Smart Nation push. Leaders must evolve not only with tech but also with empathy and authenticity.

My work draws from decades in cross-cultural corporate leadership, especially at IBM and MTV Asia, and transformative work with leaders across diverse industries. It’s particularly relevant in Singapore’s diverse society, where cultural intelligence and adaptive leadership are essential.

Designing Identity-Led Leaders for the AI Era

Q: What unique perspective do you bring to Singapore’s next chapter of growth?

A: I bring the perspective of a Singaporean who has worked globally—someone who knows what it means to lead across borders while staying anchored in values.

Through frameworks like Lead By Design™ and Power Move™, I help leaders shift from reactive to intentional leadership. It’s about navigating AI disruption, global competition, and evolving stakeholder demands by knowing who you are and what you stand for. This identity-led approach builds high-performing teams and exponential growth.

Singapore’s future lies not only in tech but in talent—and I focus on helping that talent rise with clarity, conviction, and resilience.

Transforming with Empathy, Edge, and Execution

Q: What makes your leadership programs truly different?

A: I’ve lived the leadership journey. I’ve sat in C-suites, led turnarounds, and built start-ups. That depth allows me to coach from lived experience, not just theory.

My programs are experiential and fast-paced, but always human-centered. I blend design thinking, coaching psychology, and cultural fluency to help leaders rise above just performance and lead with purpose.

Whether I’m training or coaching leaders at NTU, Singapore Prison Service, Micron, or Payoneer, the goal is the same: help them discover their leadership purpose and strengths, develop a values-based approach to their growth, and create greater impact.

Building Singapore’s Regional Voice in Coaching

Q: What’s your vision for coaching and leadership development in Singapore?

A: Coaching is no longer just remedial—it’s strategic. Singapore is uniquely positioned to lead Asia in this shift, and I want to see more local coaches shaping the global narrative.

That’s why I founded Leadership Coaching School. We’re not just certifying coaches; we’re cultivating thought leaders. With programs like Boss from Hell to Heaven™, we challenge leaders to face the hard truths, then rise. My mission is to raise the quality, diversity, and depth of coaching and leadership coming out of Singapore.

Staying Future-Fit in a Disrupted World

Q: How do you stay sharp and continuously improve?

A: I stay deeply engaged across markets, from MNCs to start-ups. To stay at the forefront of tech development, I continuously pursue certifications in areas such as mindfulness, enterprise design thinking, and AI leadership—including recently participating in a Hackathon focused on AI for coding.

My work also involves close collaboration with institutions like NUS, SMU, and St. Gallen, and I contribute actively to forums such as GatherVerse, AI Visionary Society, and Forbes Coaches Council.

As a regular speaker at CXO events and leadership programmes, I share insights on navigating disruption with purpose. In addition, I serve as a Success Coach for the Chief Strategy Officer Program, guiding corporate leaders over five months to evolve their mindset, apply strategic frameworks, and sharpen their organisational impact.

Leadership is not static. It must evolve with the economy, the workforce, and our collective challenges. I believe leaders need not just new skills, but new paradigms.
