Q: Christian, can you tell us about a specific initiative you’ve led that has directly contributed to Singapore’s development in recent years?
A: Absolutely. I’ve been an active and influential member of the Asia Professional Speakers Singapore (APSS) for over 15 years, and I previously served as its President. APSS upholds professional standards in Singapore’s training industry, emphasizing ethics, professionalism, enterprise, and strong community engagement.
Through this platform, I’ve been deeply involved in mentoring emerging speakers and trainers. This isn’t just about presentation skills—it’s about cultivating a knowledge-based, values-driven community that can deliver high-quality, relevant training across sectors.
Our collective work helps Singapore maintain a competitive edge by ensuring professionals and organizations have the tools and mindset to thrive in an increasingly complex environment.
Q: You’ve worked with a wide range of audiences and government agencies. Can you tell us more about that impact?
A: Certainly. Over the past three years, I’ve worked with institutions such as the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Social and Family Development, and SAFRA.
My programs have reached more than 10,000 Singaporean professionals across audiences such as mid-level managers, educators, customer service teams, and fresh graduates.
My signature programs—like “Unleash Your Sales Genius”, “Body Language and Face Profiling”, and “Critical Thinking and Decision-Making Skills”—are designed to be practical, relatable, and adaptable. These aren’t cookie-cutter modules; they’re constantly updated based on new trends and societal shifts.
Q: Beyond speaking, what are some of your other achievements that people may not know about?
A: Besides my speaking and training business, I’m also the Director of Renosis Industries, a successful printing company I’ve run since 1983. I’ve also worked on high-impact projects like responsible gaming training for both integrated casino resorts in Singapore.
Another proud moment was being the first Singaporean speaker invited to the prestigious Million Dollar Round Table global stage, held in Florida and Sydney in 2016. It was a career highlight and a proud moment to put Singapore on the map in the global speaking circuit.
Q: You’ve received several awards over the years. Which recognitions are most meaningful to you?
A: Each one is meaningful in its own way, but a few stand out. Earning the Certified Speaking Professional title was a milestone for me and as Singapore’s first locally-born speaker to receive it.
Receiving the 2024 President’s Award for Service honored my years of contribution to the community during my APSS tenure. This year, I was inducted into the APSS Speaker Hall of Fame, an incredible honor I’m deeply grateful for.
I’ve had the honor of speaking before two royals, including a private lunch with the Princess of Brunei—truly unforgettable.
Seeing What’s Next: Foresight and Future-Proofing
Q: What’s the unique strength or insight you bring to help Singapore navigate its next chapter of growth?
A: I would say foresight—the ability to anticipate trends, read signals of change, and translate them into actionable strategies. This skill is becoming increasingly valuable in today’s world, where the only constant is change.
From AI in education to skills-based hiring, I help leaders think beyond the next quarter and into the future. I guide them to look five or ten years ahead and prepare proactively. It’s not just about reacting to disruption; it’s about leading through it with clarity and confidence.
Singapore’s strength has always been its adaptability. I help individuals and institutions anticipate change early and navigate it effectively for future success.
