Empowering Change, Locally & Creatively: Announcing the Winners of the Solve for Change Grant Program Batch 2

Singapore, 23 September — In a world where young changemakers are stepping up to solve problems their communities face, the Solve for Change Grant Program by Solve Education!, in collaboration with Average Foundation, proudly announces the three selected initiatives for Batch 2 funding.

These teams have turned empathy into action and ideas into sustainable models. Each one shows how innovation, when rooted in local wisdom and community, becomes a force for transformation.

Meet the three winning teams of the 2025 cohort: Peddle iLabs from Nigeria, Asarasa Indonesia, and Rumah Belajar Abhipraya from Indonesia. While their approaches are different, their shared mission is clear: making education more accessible, contextual, and impactful.

Lighting Up Learning in Crisis Zones: Peddle iLabs (Nigeria)

Joseph Orya knows what it’s like to grow up in a village without teachers or reliable electricity. Now, as the founder of Peddle iLabs, he’s bringing mobile, solar-powered digital classrooms to children in Nigeria’s conflict-affected regions, starting with Benue State, where over 10.5 million children are out of school.

Each classroom is a solar-powered kit equipped with tablets preloaded with gamified, AI-enabled learning content, entirely functional without internet access. Local unemployed youth are trained as facilitators, creating a model where education and employment grow together. In regions where infrastructure fails, this portable, grassroots solution is redefining what access to education looks like.

“Being selected as a winner is both humbling and empowering,” Joseph shared. “It gives us the confidence to scale our mobile classrooms and extend hope to more children who deserve quality learning.”

This is innovation powered by community ownership. The facilitators are not just delivering lessons. They are restoring dignity and rebuilding the future of their communities.

Weaving Dreams Through Culture and Learning: Asarasa Indonesia (Nggela Village, NTT)

In East Nusa Tenggara’s remote Nggela Traditional Village, Asarasa Indonesia is bringing learning alive by combining education, tourism, and the creative economy.

Founded by a collective of young Indonesians, Asarasa is turning underutilized local wisdom and artisan traditions into a platform for learning, storytelling, and economic empowerment.

Their flagship initiative, Rangkai Asa, blends cultural immersion with youth-led volunteering. With support from the Solve for Change Grant, they are integrating Edbot.ai’s AI coaching into their education modules and expanding the program to include 30 youth changemakers and 60 schoolchildren, enhancing both the village’s identity and its educational opportunities.

“We came across Solve Education perfectly when we needed it the most,” said Darama Syahdila, Managing Director of Asarasa. “This grant helps us legalize our foundation and reach more learners with relevant, localized solutions.”

This is innovation driven by respect for indigenous knowledge and designed to generate economic and educational value side by side.

A Classroom That Feels Like Home: Rumah Belajar Abhipraya (South Tangerang, Indonesia)

Education should feel like a possibility, not pressure. That belief drives Rumah Belajar Abhipraya, a community-based learning space that nurtures joy, self-confidence, and curiosity in children who have lost their motivation to learn within rigid school systems.

With its three-pillar model, Education, Health, and Environment, Abhipraya builds sessions that integrate creative learning, wellness, and ecological awareness. From eco-printing workshops to “Math & Tech in Real Life” classes using Edbot.ai, they’re transforming how children perceive learning.

The grant will help reach 100 learners and 60 parents, creating a sustainable community-based education model.

“This recognition reminds us that our small work matters,” said Abida Azzahra, Project Leader. “We are building joyful learning spaces, one community at a time.”

The program transforms families into learning ecosystems where children, parents, and youth facilitators grow together through curiosity and collaboration.

The Vision Behind the Movement

“Solve for Change is about more than just funding. It’s about backing the belief that young people can transform their communities when given the right tools and trust.

We created this initiative to support grassroots leaders who are already solving real problems, often with limited resources.

By equipping them with microgrants, technology, and global visibility, we’re not just enabling projects — we’re nurturing a new generation of youth entrepreneurs who are building livelihoods and driving lasting change,” said Janine Teo, CEO of Solve Education! and founder of Solve for Change.

Elisha, Founder of Average Foundation, added, “Grassroots changemakers remind us that anyone has the power to create the future they envision — and I am proud to back them.”

A Call to Collaborate

At Solve Education!, we believe real solutions come from those closest to the problem. The Solve for Change Grant supports grassroots innovation and invites funders and partners to collaborate, not just contribute.

These youth-led projects reflect our GAIN framework — Gamification, AI coaching, Incentives, and Network — tailored to local needs. They show how education can rebuild futures and strengthen communities.

We invite you to join us in backing bold ideas and empowering local leaders. Together, we can build an education ecosystem where every child has a chance to learn, lead, and thrive.

Solve for Change Round 3 is Open

The journey doesn’t stop here. Round 3 is now open, calling the next wave of youth innovators to step forward. If you’re leading a project that reimagines learning or empowers your community, register now and be part of the movement.
